BLAINE, WA – Switching it up a bit, doing some breakfast for our “Cheffing-It-Up” segment today. I love a great pick me up in the morning and there is just something about cooking outdoors to make even more special. Maybe there is something in the air to help add a little extra flavoring to the dish? No matter what it is, I think this meal is a fun one to do on the road and that’s French Toast!
“FRENCH TOAST”
THE RECIPE:
Ingredients – Whole wheat bread, 3 eggs, bacon, whole milk, heavy cream, vanilla, butter, syrup
Spices – Cinnamon
“MISE EN PLACE” BEFORE HITTING THE ROAD
Step 1 – In a bowl, mix 1 egg, 2 teaspoons of vanilla, 2 tablespoons of cream, 1/4 cup of whole milk and 3 tablespoons of cinnamon. Whisk together until blended and place in a storage container.
ON THE ROAD, READY TO COOK
Step 2 – First heat up two skillets. One for your bacon & eggs, one for your French Toast
Step 3 – Once your skillets are hot, drop in two strips of bacon and start cooking
Step 4 – As the bacon is cooking, dip your bread on both sides and drop into a buttered skillet. Flip as needed and brown on both sides. Then repeat until you’re done with bread and your mixture
Step 5 – When your bacon is done, remove and cook your two remaining eggs in the bacon fat, this time I’m cooking mine sunny side up.
Step 6 -Time to plate up… I also have some coffee with coconut creamer and juice water… orange juice with some water to cut it
A good breakfast is the perfect way to start your day, especially out car camping. Cooking in the outdoors just adds some extra flavor to the food and with a recipe like this, you can have fun, “Cheffing-It-Up” for sure!
