RAVENSDALE, WA – It may be March, but here in the Pacific Northwest, if you’re willing to brave some chilly temperatures you can still get out there and car camp and that’s what I’m doing this week!

This time out, I’m heading East of Seattle to another great state park, Kanaskat-Palmer State Park in Ravensdale Washington.  Now the nice part of this spot, is that it’s not too far out of town and once you’re in your space, you can really, unplug, relax and enjoy your surroundings.

A check-in update on my RV…

So for those of you who are new here, I got into RVing back in 2016 when I bought my first rig, a 2004 Itasca Spirit and I loved it.  I then moved up to a 2005 Winnebago Sightseer, did a full reno on it and enjoyed it for years.

In 2019 I took a job in Green Bay, brought my RV up there and enjoyed my time before taking another job in Seattle in 2021.

Last year, I flew back to try to get my RV which was in storage in Green Bay to bring it out to Seattle and the engine blew as I was bringing it out.

The cost to fix it, was crazy expensive so I’ve had to make some tough decisions regarding what to do with it. Last year I did an update about the RV, now it’s time for another one.

My plan last year was to continue to pay off my RV and then once it’s all paid for, to essentially scrap it and move on a very hard choice.  Since then, I’ve been able to continue to pay down the RV and if all goes well, I should be close to paying it off by the end of the summer. Now that does leave some options:

  • Try to find a new engine and install it for about 10k-12k.  The RV would be paid off, so it might be a little easier to try to find someone and an engine to put in the RV
  • The next option, would be again to just sell it for whatever I can get for it and move on and just car camp.
  • The final option, would be to sell it and try to immediately take whatever profit I had, along with some savings and try to find a new rig.  Something smaller most likely, something like a Class B or travel trailer like a Scamp or Casita

Right now I’m just really trying to stay heads down on paying everything off and then reevaluate everything. At the same time I’m looking at all sorts of rigs around town and trying not to get too excited, because right now I really can’t make a move.

But that being said, we are getting closer to being able to finish paying off the RV and then making some decisions then.

What’s new with the drone?

Awhile back I picked up a Ruko F11 Gim2 drone. I was so excited to get it, but once I started to read up on it and especially regarding what I want to use it for, here on the channel, to me it was clear I needed a drone pilot license.  So, right now I am working on securing a license so I can utilize it here on the channel, Because I monetize the channel, you need to be certified, so that’s what I’m doing now. Going online to get the materials, studying and then in the near future, taking the pilot’s test to get my license.

How am I liking my Jetboil MiniMo

At the beginning of the year, I picked up a Jetboil MiniMo cooking system with some birthday gift certificates.  And while this isn’t the official review, what I can say is that I am loving my new cooking stove. It’s lightweight, really portable and allows me to do a ton of cooking, especially now that I’ve added a skillet to my gear.  I’ll be doing a full review shortly, but this really has been one of the best pieces of gear I’ve added in 2023.

So those are the current updates.  I anticipate there will be a couple of more coming your way later this year and when I have big ones I’ll share them with you,

Is there anything in particular you’d like to see or know more about?  Let me know in the comments bellow, I really appreciate it!
