I love, love, love being out on the road in my “New-2-Me-RV” my 2019 Winnebago Travato 59gl. This trip was a fun one because we started out at Picacho Peak State Park and as soon as that stay wrapped up, we hit the road for “Roper Lake State Park.” A place that had really good camping, hiking and yes… water in the desert!
Here’s the 411 on the trip:
- 2-nights… $50 a night, with taxes the two night total was: $103.60
- I stayed in The Hacienda Loop, site 35
- I did have cell service, between 3-5 bars. I have AT&T
The facilities:
– The park has 45 electric sites
- There are three camping areas: Hacienda, Cottonwood, Gila
- Gila has eight cabins, 5 non-electric sites, and a 4 site group
- Electric sites are 20/30/50 amps
- Park is open year-round, gates close at 9pm nightly
- Both back-ins and pull-throughs are available. With a 45 foot limit.
- The part does have an RV Dump station

“Roper Lake State Park is located 6 miles south of Safford in Graham County in southeast Arizona and sits at the base of Mt. Graham. There are three different campgrounds for lakeside camping as well as fishing, bird watching and water activities. This park is home to a large variety of bird species, offers great seasonal fishing, and is within close proximity to one of Arizona’s most beautiful “Sky Island” mountain ranges. Comfy camping cabins dot the shoreline, and neighboring Dankworth Pond State Park offers hiking trails and more water access.
