Back out in my “New-2-Me-RV”… 2019 Winnebago Travato 59GL, and another Arizona State Park.  This time we’re heading out and exploring, “Picacho Peak State Park”

Here’s the 411 on the trip: 

  • 2-nights… $50 a night, with taxes the two night total was: $103.60
  • I stayed in Loop A, site 15
  • I did have cell service, between 3-5 bars. I have AT&T

The facilities:

– The park has 78 electric sites

  • There are four camping areas: A-B-C Loops and the Bobcat Rustic area
  • Electric sites are 20/30/50 amps
  • Park is open year-round, gates close at 8pm nightly
  • Both back-ins and pull-throughs are available. No maximum size limit (except no tractor-trailers allowed). All sites offer a picnic table and a barbeque/fire ring. Many sites also offer ramadas, and some of the sites are handicapped-accessible.
  • The use of the dump station is included in the price for camping.

Enjoy the view as you hike the trails that wind up the peak and, often in the spring, overlook a sea of wildflowers. The park and surrounding area are known for its unique geological significance, outstanding and varied desert growth, and historical importance. The unique shape has been used as a landmark by travelers since prehistoric times. One of the first recordings was in the 1700s by the Anza Expedition as it passed through the area. ”
