SEATTLE, WA – I continue to work extremely hard at paying off my old RV, aka “The Death Star” which remains in storage in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin. Last year at this time, I tried to bring it across from Green Bay to Seattle and it broke down and the engine blew.
And because I still had payments on the rig, I wasn’t able to sell it for anything until it is paid off and that’s what I’ve been doing, working on paying it off and because of that focus and hard work, I’m getting close to having the whole thing done… maybe by mid summer of this year.
Now that leaves me thinking about what will be next? What kind of recreational vehicle will I go after, because I really love exploring and I want my own RV again. Right now I’m doing a lot of car camping and having a good time, however I do know that I would like and RV again.
When I got into RVing back in 2016, I had a Class C that was about 24-25 feet and I loved it and there is a part of me that thinks, maybe I should have stayed with that rig a little bit longer, but I hated the corner cut bed and an opportunity presented itself to upgrade and so I jumped on it.
I went from a Class C to a Class A that had two slides. The bed was a full queen that I could walk around, which I loved and it presented an opportunity to do a full renovation on it and I wanted that project at the time and actually really enjoyed it.
If it wasn’t for the fact that the engine blew on the RV last year, I’d still have it now and we might not even be talking about all of this.
But I don’t have that RV anymore and for right now the plan is to move on from it. So I’m starting to think about what I want next in an RV. This is what I know:
- A smaller rig… my last RV was not that big at 29 feet and it was a Class A, but I think I want smaller
- I want a bathroom… I just want to be able to be self contained and not have to worry about having to find a place to go the the bathroom in the middle of the night
- I’m totally open to whatever kind option presents itself… I’m looking at everything
- I don’t want to get too far in debt with my next RV. I have come to the realization that I might have to finance some of this and I’m again thinking about how much is realistic and comfortable for me
- I’m also wondering if I need slides in my next ride or if an old school Class C with no slides makes better sense?
- And then how much renovation do I want to and can I do?
So when you watch this video, keep off of this in mind. I also want your help. Let me know what you think I should do, I’d love to get your opinion on what’s next. I’m really getting excited and at the same time really remaining focused on the job at hand, paying off my current RV. Then, I’ll save a little money and go for the next RVJEDEYE ride!
