ARLINGTON, WA – First time out this year I went winter car camping in my Subaru Crosstrek. Not a bad overall experience. I twas cold, but I was able to stay warm and get out and explore Dash Point State Park in Federal Way Washington.
For my second time out, I had to deal with more weather, this time rain. Now living in the Pacific Northwest, you know there’s going to be rain from time to time, it’s just a part of being here. But this was also my first time dealing with the wet stuff car camping, so that mad this trip, extra interesting.
Here’s the 411 on the trip:
- I stayed there 2 days and after taxes it worked out to be $36.00 dollars per night
- I stayed in site #1… The first site when you roll into the tent camping area. It was flat, however all of the tent sites are right next to each other. Not a problem this time for me, considering I was the ONLY person in the park
- Cell service was great. I was able to use my phone all trip. I have AT&T.
- The facilities: 10 drive-up campsites and 4 hike in campsites with fire-it’s and water nearby. There was a bathhouse with showers, but during the winter it is locked and closed, but they do have porta-potties.

“With 150 acres of large open meadows and forests along the banks of the Stillaguamish River, River Meadows is a large, peaceful park with many opportunities to recreate, relax and enjoy nature. You can fish along the mile-long river bank, camp in the summer or rent a yurt year-round, picnic, hike, geocache, bird watch, or play catch in the meadow. The park’s expansive meadows offer a great location for large events, such as family reunions, scout jamborees, weddings, community celebrations, etc.”
A fun park to camp and hike in and no doubt during the summer, it will book up fast!
