I like to eat a lot of different things… from seafood to chicken to pork and vegetables.  But one of my favorite things to do is a good steak and when I can put together a fun, easy, unique meal with steak involved, I’m going to share it.

So for this meal we’re going to do a petite sirloin steak in a mushroom sauce over a bed of creamy, cheesy mashed potatoes with green beans.  This is a meal I think you’re going to want try… assuming you like meat.

A collection of cooking ingredients on a countertop, including a potato, garlic, a pack of steak, various spices, olive oil, butter, and other seasonings, with a small kitchen stove visible in the background.

“STEAK & MUSHROOMS”

THE RECIPE:

Ingredients – Petite sirloin steak, cremini mushrooms, one russet potato, minced garlic, 2 sliced cloves of garlic, garlic powder,, salt, pepper, sour cream, heavy cream, butter, chardonnay, parmesan cheese, olive oil, flour, and soy sauce.

“MISE EN PLACE” ON THE ROAD

  • Peel and chop one russet potato
  • Chop up 4-5 cremini mushrooms and set aside
  • Chop up 2 stems of thyme, about 7 basil leafs and 3 stems of dill
  • Chop 1 large red onion slice
  • Slice 3 corn tortillas into triangles

READY TO COOK:

Step 1 – Take your chopped potato and place it in a pan with water and salt and boil until the potato is fork tender

Step 2 – While the potato is boiling, coat your petite sirloin with olive oil, salt, pepper and some garlic powder on both sides

Step 3 – Next heat up a skillet, add in 2 teaspoons of olive oil and a tablespoon of butter. Once the butter is melted drop your steak in and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or longer if you want your steak well done. Once you’ve flipped your steak once add in your 2 sliced cloves of garlic.

Step 4 – As the steak finishes cooking, once your potato is fork soft, drain most of the water, then add in 2 tablespoons of butter and a quarter cup of heavy cream. Also add in about a half a teaspoon of salt, pepper, a tablespoon of minced garlic, and a tablespoon of sour cream and mash up.  Once everything is incorporated you want to add in a 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese and continue to mix.

Step 5 – From the skillet remove the steak and let it rest. Then add in your mushrooms to the skillet with a little salt, pepper and garlic powder and cook for about 2 minutes. After 2 minutes pour in a little less than a 1/4 cup of chardonnay and let them cook.

Step 6 – Once the mushrooms have cooked down, add in 2 teaspoons of flour and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce.  Mix and let it thicken before turning off the heat.

Step 7 – Finally, in the same skillet after you’ve removed the mushrooms, add a teaspoon of butter, a hand full of green beans. Salt, pepper, a little garlic powder. Cook on high heat for about 4 minutes.

Step 5 – Once the green beans are cooked off, plate up and enjoy your meal!
