ELMA, WA – There are so many different ways to RV, it’s crazy.  One of my favorite ways to do it, is through your local State Parks Department.  And this week, thanks to mine, I’m checking a new park for me, “Schafer State Park” in Elma Washington.

Here’s the 411 on the trip: 

  • 2-nights, after taxes it worked out to be $88.00 dollars or $44.00 per night
  • I stayed in site 53 and had water and electric
  • Cell service was horrible, virtually no cell service. I have AT&T. The park DID however have free WI-Fi so I was able to use my phone through that
  • The facilities: 113 acres. There are 29 standard campsites, 34 partial utility sites that accommodate RVs up to 40’ long, 4 walk-in sites and 1 primitive site for hikers and bicyclers. 52 sites are reservable and 15 are first come, first served. There is also a group camp that accommodates up to 70 guests
  • I was easily able to book my reservation online at: https://washington.goingtocamp.com/

According the website:

“Schafer State Park is a forested camping park on the Satsop River near Olympia in southwest Washington. Schafer State Park offers supreme fishing opportunities for steelhead, cutthroat trout and salmon as well as great camping in a cool and classic Western Washington forest.”
