SEATTLE, WA – This is long time coming… No need to drag it out, I have donated my RV to charity and the “Death Star” is no longer. This is a tough one, considering how long I’ve had my rig and all that went into it. I started off with a Class C RV and then upgraded to a Class A and did a full renovation on the RV and hit the road exploring.

First, let me get you caught up quickly:
2021… I got a job in Seattle and had to move across the country, you i left my RV in Green Bay where i was living then and hit the road.

2022… I went back to Wisconsin to get my RV, started the journey back to Seattle and then had a major breakdown when my engine blew.

I had to put the RV in storage and flew back home. There, I looked around at all of my options to fix the RV and turned out it was going to be more expensive to put in an engine and i still had about $17k to go to pay off the rig.
Fast forward to earlier this year 2023… after a lot of work… i was able to finally pay off the RV and then i was left with a hug decision… what to do next?

I’ve been thinking a lot about what I should do next, even i asking advice from lot’s of folks who follow the channel and me. Some of the advice I got: Try to put in a used or new engine. Try towing it to park and just leaving it there and using it as an AirBnB. And to just selling it, trying to make as much as I can on it.
Believe me, I listened to it all. Being in Seattle and trying to do anything remotely was difficult and after weighing all of the options, I made the decision to go ahead an donate the RV to charity.

The Death Star wasn’t running and had been in storage for a year, so it turned out that donating it to charity was the easiest thing to do.
I’m a big supporter of PBS and my local station here in Seattle, had a vehicle donation program, so I worked with them. They connected me with a company that specializes in non-running vehicles. They went to the storage unit, picked it up… did all of the paperwork and then in several weeks i got the documentation that the transaction was complete.
While I won’t get money back for my RV, I WILL get a tax write off at the end of the year.
So what’s next, who knows? For me, right now I’ve been doing a lot of car camping and that’s been fun.

i’ve also been looking into a ton of options… travel trailers, Class B’s and C RV’s and even looking at converting a minivan into a camper
In the end, I’m not sure what will be next, but I’m continuing to take you on the journey with me.
What advice do YOU have for me on my search for the next RV? Drop a comment bellow.
ho knows maybe even trying something your’e doing once I get my next RV and hit the road again!
