QUINCY, WA – I love a great burger and you can go back and forth as to WHO makes the best, but for this meal I decided to something unique and fun with a little deconstruction therapy. 

So for this particular meal we’re doing a “Bacon Cheeseburger Skillet.” You can doctor up your burger however you like, which makes this a very personalized dinner that I think you’ll enjoy doing on the road.

“BACON CHEESEBURGER SKILLET”

THE RECIPE:

Ingredients – Half a pound of ground beef, 1 slice of bacon, onions, Roma tomatoes, potatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, canola oil, flour tortilla

Spices – salt, pepper, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, fast food mustard and ketchup packets 

Step 1 – At home before the trip, slice up a half of a potato, drizzle some olive oil and Old Bay seasoning on the liberally. Pop into an air fryer, (or you could cook them in a little oil, in a small frying pan on the stove), par-cook for about 3-4 minutes, pull them out and then put them into a reusable bag, pack them up and bring them with you.

Step 2 – Start your pan and get it warm, then add in a teaspoon of canola oil. Once the oil is warm add in 1 slice of bacon chopped up.  Cook until the bacon starts to cooked through.

Step 3 – Once the bacon is going, add in your hamburger, about a half a pound and season with half a teaspoon of salt… pepper… and garlic powder.  Mix and keep cooking down.

Step 4 – With the meat cooking, you want to add in your “crack-fries” and mix them into your skillet.

Step 5 – As your fries and meat continue to cook, first add in about 2 tablespoons of chopped onions. About two minutes in, you’ll want to drop in 1 packet each of mustard & ketchup.  Mix that together and cook for 2 minutes. 

Step 6 – Into the pan, drop in some shredded cheese, I’m using cheddar. Cook that down and then finish off with some chopped tomatoes.

Step 6 – Finally, plate up your bacon cheeseburger skillet, warm up your tortilla and boom enjoy your dinner!

This turned out to be a really fun meal to do on the road car camping and it’s one you can do in almost on any cooking stove.  And trust me, this is one that smells so good as well!
