GREEN BAY, WI – OK, I’ve been talking about fixing my right side RV mirror for over a year now. With the Roof torn off and the rig in storage as I try to figure out what will happen next and how I fix this bad boy, it’s allowing me now some time to do those “honey-do-list” of items on the RV.

|WHY IS MY RV ROOF MISSING?

First, let’s set the table regarding the mirror and how I’m even here, having to fix it.  It all started when I had my RV in storage in Florida before I came to Northeast Wisconsin. It was tucked away for about 6 months and when I went down to pick it up, the one issue I had with everything was that someone had hit and broken the right side mirror.

|BROKEN MIRROR… NO BUENO

I didn’t let the mirror break me. I taped it up and drove it all of the way back to the Green Bay Area. I used clear tape and it worked. It worked so well I got through the entire 2020 RV season with a janky mirror.  Something I knew I was going to have to get to eventually.

|A BIG PROJECT IS A COMING

After the RV season was done for 2020 and I had the rig in storage, I started to go online to find a replacement mirror. I was able to get one from “Mills Supply Inc.”

|SOURCING THE RIGHT “RIGHT SIDE” MIRROR

Once I got the mirror, thought it was the wrong side, sent it back and then got it back and realized Mills didn’t send the wrong mirror I just had to use my Allen-wrench to turn then head, it was now time to finally do the install.

Once I got the mirror out to the RV, the install was one of the easiest repairs I’ve had to do on my RV. Basically I took the four screws out of the mirror on the side of the RV.  Took the mirror down and pulled out the cables inside of the RV.  Undid the connector, it’s just one 6 pin connector and then did the whole thing in reverse and boom, I had my right side mirror back on the RV, connected and it looks fantastic.

One of these days, when I can get my RV back out on the road, this will make driving so much easier and I’m so glad I did it all myself. A certain RV company in Florida where I lived, wanted over $600 bucks to find the mirror and do the install.  Pick your battles folks, again there as some RV repairs the pros have to do, however there are a lot of repairs you can do on your own as well.

What’s a repair you did on your RV that you’re proud of?  Let me know in the comments below!
