VANTAGE, WA – I started off with a work trip that turned into a fun trip out at “Little Goose Landing.” With the exception of my batteries, I had a really good time at that spot.
But I was only there one day, so the next day I got up and hit the road to maybe another perfect place to RV camp, Wanapum State Park.
Here’s the 411 on the trip:
- 2-nights… $45 a night, with taxes the two night total was: $99.03
- I stayed in site 21 next to the water
- I did have cell service, between 3-5 bars. I have AT&T.
- I watched 2 movies during my stay for an overall movie count in 2025 of: 8
- “The Usual Suspects”
- ”The Mask of Zorro”
The facilities:
- Full-hookup and hiker/biker sites are available.
- Maximum site length is 60 feet, limited availability.
- Tent campers may use the sites but must pay full fee.
- High winds are frequent, especially in the evening. Tents are strongly not recommended, campers should secure light-weight articles.
- The park is heavily used during The Gorge Amphitheatre concert season. Facilities fill early on weekends.

“Wanapum Recreation Area Campground Open year round. Reservations recommended April 16 – Oct. 15 First come, first served on remaining open dates Limited camping in off season. Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park is a 7,470-acre park with camping at Wanapum Recreational Area. The park features 27,000 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Wanapum Reservoir along the Columbia River. Ginkgo Petrified Forest, discovered in the late 1920s, is a registered national natural landmark.”
