CALUMET COUNTY, WI – I love exploring and rving new places. One of the things I’ve found in my RVlife is that county parks can be some of the best places to get away.  Whether it’s just a short trip, or in some cases even a long stay, county parks can be some of the hidden gems of the RV world.

Recently, I discovered a new county park to me, one that minus the mosquitoes, was definitely ab-fab.  Calumet County Park, is under an hour away from Green Bay, but once you get there you can definitely unplug and truly enjoy yourself.

|WHY COUNTY PARKS CAN BE SO COOL… CHECK THIS OUT!

Calumet County Park has 71 sites, 63 of them all have electric. There is no water at your site, but there are places when you drive in to fill up your tanks with potable water. The electric sites have 20 and 30 amp service, with the north end campsites having 50 amp service. The largest padded sites can accommodate campers up to 40 feet in length.

As for my stay, here’s the deal:

  • I stayed there 2 nights… with taxes and a booking fee it was $30.32 a night or $60.64 for both nights
  • I stayed in site #7… It was easy to get into. There is space between the the sites, not a lot but you at least don’t feel like you’re jammed in together
  • Cell service was strong for me in the area. I have AT&T.
  • SOME of the RVers were loud early in the evening
  • There is a dump station that costs $3.00 even if you’re staying at the park
  • According the park website:

“Camping is available year-round at Calumet County Park, with the largest number of campers from April 1st through October 31st. During the camping off season (Nov. 1-March 31), the fresh water filling stations and dump station are typically closed. Specific dates when the water is turned off can vary year to year dependent on the weather temperatures. Those interested in winter camping should contact the park office prior to arriving at the park to ensure a camping pad has been plowed during periods of heavy snow.”
