GREEN BAY, WI – How are My RV Batteries in the Winter? It’s a question I get a lot and because I had a lot of really good advice, I’ve made a change to how I’m doing it.

Initially, the plan after I winterized the RV, was that I would just go back and forth, about once a month to check on the RV and see how it was doing.

|HOW I WINTERIZED MY RV FOR THE FIRST TIME IN WISCONSIN

I went back and checked on it, about a month after putting it into storage and again, for the most part everything looked good and I was happy with how things were.  When I posted about checking on my RV a lot of folks had questions and comments about my batteries.

|CHECKING IN ON THE RV… HOW’S IT DOING?

Now I don’t have a ton of experience winterizing my RV, because when I first got into RVing many moons ago, I did so in Florida. Where I lived I could RV year round and that’s what I did, so I didn’t have to winterize. I still remember the first time I got my RV and how excited I was as if it were just yesterday.

Now that I live here in Northeast Wisconsin, I have to do things differently and THAT means, making sure I protect my rig from cold.

I thought I had done a good job this year, however one of the things that came up a lot was what was I going to do for my batteries?  Some said, just put a trickle charger on it in the storage unit. Others suggested, bringing the batteries indoors and there were a couple who said don’t do anything.

After going through all of the information and looking into everything, I decided to get a trickle charger for the RV and pull the batteries and bring them home. In my rig I have three batteries and they were heavy but that’s what I did.

I now have the batteries in a storage bin at home. I’m going through each battery to make sure they’re fully charged so when the spring comes I’ll be ready to get my RV right back out there.

Just a quick thank you to all of you who made the suggestion about the trickle charger. I’ll let you know how it turns out!  So the question I have now… how do YOU store your batteries when you shut your RV down for the winter?
