It’s been an amazing start to my young RV career. I picked up my “New-2-Me-RV,” in July and staying pretty true to form, I’ve been out on the road roughly every two weeks. On the rare occasions I’ve been able to blend a work meeting into a trip, I’m out on the road even more and get a real sense of what it might be like going full time.
So I’m going to start a new tradition this year and I hope you all like it. Because I’m out on the road a lot, at the end of each year I’m going to rank my, “Top 10 RVJedeye Spots” every year!
Moving forward, I’ll rank my stops, show a couple of pics and give you my take as to why… for me… it rated where it did in my top 10 for each year.
How will I figure out my top 10?” Well, I’m using a mixture of things to put my list together. For example: overall beauty, cleanliness, friendliness at the park, price per night (including taxes), and if I would go there again. All of these items and more will factor into how I build out my top 10 list.
So without further ado, here are my “Top 10
10) “Coastline RV Resort”

Part of a five stop, 4 park trip, “Coastline RV Resort” does have some, “Wow” factor. They have a couple of different RV parks, the “Coastline Campground,” and the “Coastline RV Resort.” I went with the RV resort, tier one, right across the road from the Gulf. This is another “Glamping” stop, but really amps it up. The main facility is really nice, with pool and rec room. 
It has a small gym, full hook-ups, cable/Wi-Fi and it’s in a beautiful location. There is a lot of space for rigs. Each site is well maintained clean and you could stay there awhile. The views are amazing, the road DOES cause some noise, so be prepared if you stay in one of the front tiers, however at the same time, you could leave your front window covers off and have a gorgeous view of the Gulf. If you tow a “Toad” or your rig, you can drive around the area and see a lot as well.
9) “Indian Pass Campground”

Not quite “Glamping” or a State Park, “Indian Pass Campground,” is a very nice spot. Secluded, off of the beaten path, pay the extra to have a water view. A tight, small campground, the spot was easy to get into and I was able to have an amazing view from inside the rig, out the back all trip long.
The camp store has a lot of stuff if you need it and the staff was very friendly. I didn’t have a long enough cable to connect to the cable box to my RV, but they had one that I could borrow and it worked well.
This of course IS the place that I learned a valuable lesson regarding making sure your antenna is down before you drive off, otherwise it will cost you about $280 bucks to fix after you’ve driven off and hit a tree heading out. A lot of the folks I met at this campground fished, so if you do, I think it’s a pretty good spot.
8) “Ochlockonee River State Park”

The first Florida State Park to hit the list, this was the second stop I ever made in my RV. An easy park to get into and park.
It was a really friendly RV spot. As I walked around, I met a lot of folks and several who brought their musical instruments out and played. I stopped by a couple of campsites just to watch. This is also where I really started to discover my joy for hiking. A lot of great trails at this park. 
No doubt there is some sentimentality to go with this pick, but it is a great stop and a great price.
7) “Three Rivers State Park”

One of the best, smaller State Park RV spots, but just as equally beautiful. Nestled on Lake Seminole, this is a beautiful spot to hunker down for a while. 
If you have a boat or kayak, you’ve got a place. If you want to hike and be out doors, you’ve got a place. Helpful Rangers, a nice escape, especially for a quick weekend jaunt, this park is for you. Sites are easy to get into and out. It has tent camping as well. 
Just another wonderful example of the Florida State Park system.
6) “St. Joseph Peninsula State Park”

“Ab-Fab,” is how I would describe this park. A great place to do a little bit of everything! An amazing beach that you can get to from several spots. 
Right up against the Gulf on one side and the Bay on the other, this is a MUST visit State Park. The nice part about this park is that it has two campgrounds, so plenty of sites to stop and get your camp on. Great hiking trails.
For me the only downfall was some lack of cell service in spot 38 at the “Gulf Breeze” side of the campground, but other than that a simply fantastic spot to go and unwind and enjoy the beauty of nature.
5) “Wekiwa Springs State Park”

Part of a long road trip around my birthday, this was a bit of a surprise. I picked the spot because it look cool coming from Oldsmar, back towards Port St. Joe and this park turned out to be one of my favorites.
Easy sites to get into and because I was there during the week, no one was really around so it made it really cool. I did get my first, “Watch out for bears,” from the Park Rangers as I was checking in, but thank goodness I didn’t run into any of them. J I did have a couple of great hikes, one of which took me to their amazing springs. At first it was a little cold getting in, but after a while it was so cool. The water stays a constant temperature and there is no salt in the water so it felt just like a cool bath almost. 
It was one of the places I stayed in the water for a long time, probably close to an hour just swimming and paddling around and chatting with folks who were enjoying it as well. Totally worth spending some time at if you can.
4) “Coe Landing County Park”

This was the very first stop on my RV adventure and will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart. Located off of Lake Talquin in Tallahassee, this was where I started to learn how to use my rig.
I was able to work a full day, then head out on the road. Only about a half hour from work, it was a nice, small county park that I was able to learn how to: back into a site, set up my rig, hook up everything, dump everything at the end. It was just a good place to start. The park itself is also a nice park, small, but clean. A boat ramp right next to it, so again if you like to fish or want to get out onto the lake, easy access. 
My advice to anyone starting out, find a park like this near you for your first trip so you can work out any kinks and not be too far away from home before you start venturing out into the great big RV world!
3) “Ho Hum RV Park”

My first “Glamping” experience and it was amazing! First of all, the park itself is right along the Gulf of Mexico and I paid for the front tier and would do it again in a heartbeat! The views were incredible.
Because I was right up against the water, no front window covers, I had water views for my stay and loved it! No one could see in from the front. If I wanted to walk around naked I could! (And did J ) There is a long dock on the property and a great place to walk out to and just relax. The staff was outstanding and so helpful. I learned a couple of things about setting up my rig and camping with full hook-ups. The folks in the park were so great as well and
I made a friend, Linda, who I still keep in touch with to this day. Now, they have a minimum age requirement of 17 years old and it does make a difference. 
This park books up quickly, but if you want a place to unwind and drift off in the views… get yourself down to “Ho Hum!”
2) “St. George Island State Park”

Put water in the mix… a great beach and that’s one of the easiest ways to make the top 10.
Now add in an amazing park, truly beautiful, with deep spots to park your rig in. Clean bath houses. Beautiful hiking trials and you’ve got an outstanding choice any time you want to go out and RV. Now this also was the first time I camped, with someone else, Michael & Jenny Justus of “Duet Justus” and that experience adds to what makes this park so high on this year’s list.
1) “St. Andrews State Park”

My number one pick for 2016… This park is without a doubt my favorite stop! The campgrounds were great. The hiking was amazing, but the best part of it all was the beach.
OMG, I loved the beach here and stayed in the water for hours and could have stayed in it even longer. Now, it would have been nice if I could have stayed in a site facing the bay, (There was a site, #114 that was open for the entire time I was there and no one came despite me asking the rangers three times if anyone was in that spot… but I digress) 
Even with the issue of the open spot, this was a great State Park and recommend it to ANY and EVERY one. The showers were clean… the park stores/recreational rentals fantastic and they had shaved ice! At under $33 bucks a night, you cannot beat this location.
So there you have it! My complete list for 2016. It was fun to look back at all of the places and rank them. It’s going to be a tradition moving forward for me to do this at the end of the year.
